I write because....
This post is a part of Write Over the Weekend , an initiative for Indian Bloggers by BlogAdda Chosen among the Loved posts!! "Again you are scribbling..Can't you put your nose off your books and papers for sometime?" my mother snaps at me as I scribble a poem. "Oh ma! Atleast listen to what I wrote" "Hmm...tell" "Ahmm ahmm" I pretend to clear my throat and My mum laughs back. "Will you open your mouth or should I go back to kitchen?" "Oh!No-no please!" I say quickly and grab her by elbow. Who doesn't want audience? ;) Listen," Life's unpredictable, Can't say when it would take a turn. We can't really say, When life might be deprived of all fun. It's true, What elders say, You should know to walk alone; No matter Come what may. She smiles and looks at me for some time curiously. "You write well and what you've written is indeed true."...
Love Story By Erich Segal..
ReplyDeleteThe novel tells of "Love Story" is romantic and funny, yet a tragic story.
This story makes one fall in the frames and start living it for real , why? Because all the narrations are kept so true to the reality , they makes one feel , "Oh ,thats how my partner also says or behaves" and thats what makes one glued to reading it.
"Love means never having to say you're sorry"...
Hey!
DeleteI am yet to read the "Love Story" by Erich Segal. Your description about the book makes me feel that I should take up this book sometime though I am not a very love story reader. I liked the line "Love means never having to say you're sorry" :-)
Thanks for the visit & your comment
Hey there!
ReplyDeleteWith me it's like I have not been much fond of repeating...anything- books, movies and alike, until I read 'A Walk to Remember'.
The book had a never before impact on me, and I love both the protagonists- Jamie and Landon (more of Jamie). Now, since I am too bad at remembering quotes and lines, I'll share few moments from the book that really touched me:
-Jamie's creatively kind gesture where she left tin cans for collecting funds for orphanage kids, at various shops in the town only to pick them up at the end of the year.
-Landon adding to the fund when it counted up to not very much, and that too from his already about to get over pocket money.
-Jamie gifting her most precious possession 'The Bible' to Landon as a Christmas' gift.
-Landon confessing to Jamie's dad "Sir, I love her".
.............and it goes on :')
Well, there is this one quote which is evergreen, which you obviously know if you have read the book.
“Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offense and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins, but delights in the truth. It is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes.”
(Yes, I had to google it :P. I remembered just up to the first two lines.)
Most importantly, Jamie's character instilled in me a desire to be like her. :)
Hey! :D
ReplyDeleteI too like the book and the incidents you mentioned. I also like jamie's character and the story somewhat made me too desire to be like her, you know, in some ways. Landon confessing to Jamie's dad "Sir, I love her"- both in book and movie- is one of my fav part in the story too.
Thanks for this detailed comment. :-)

My all-time favorite is the "Pride and Prejudice"by Jane Austen. The love story of a young prejudiced girl-Elizabeth and a proud Mr. Darcy. She, a middle class girl, caring for her family, she shares a special bond with her Father, she guides her sisters.... He a wealthy man full of pride and superiority... Least did she expect that she'll fall in love with him...
ReplyDeleteTheir love goes through many trials and tribulations..... Mr. Darcy's denial his love for her yet his efforts to make her happy and helping her in every possible way is remarkable........ The way Elizabeth helps him kill his pride and become a more humble person... All is truly remarkable.... The Jane Austen's witty writing keeps the reader hooked to his simple yet astonishing love story.... I guarantee that if u read the book once you'll surely reread it again....
There are many quotes in the book that are noteworthy:
-" Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves; vanity, to what we would have others think of us."
- "Our scars make us know that our past was for real" :)
I had picked up this book long back..when I wasn't an avid reader and afraid of thick books. I put it down after 2 3 pages.
DeleteAll these years, I have been asked to read this book so many times. The lines that you shared are awesome. I am surely gonna take up this book now.
Thanks for recommending and sharing your views & these wonderful lines from the book.
